Over the weekend of 6th and 7th September 20 Beavers and Cubs enjoyed a weekend camping at the Scout Hut.

The Cubs arrived at 10am and set about putting up their tents in the field out the back.  Duncan put a dining shelter over the camp fire area and lit some fires (surprise surprise!).  The Cubs had their lunch around the fire.

At 2pm the Beavers arrived and after depositing their kit and having a look around we all had drinks and biscuits together.  

We then set off to walk to the Riverside Rec for an afternoon of games (Silver Fox went in her car!).

White Rabbit and Silver Fox went back to the Scout Hut to start cooking dinner and then everybody else arrived back.

After a dinner of chicken nuggets, chips or potato wedges, peas, beans or spaghetti followed by fruit and ice cream Duncan and Tony put up some hike tents in the hut for the Beavers while the Beavers & Cubs played outside.

We then sat around the camp fire toasting marshmallows and then it was time for the Beavers to go to bed.  The Cubs followed shortly afterwards and were soon asleep.  The Beavers managed to stay awake until about 12.30am and then were up at 6.30am – quite good for a camp.  Some of the Beavers woke up saying that a ‘monksquirrel’ had got into their tent and kept trying to find out where it had gone! 

After washing, dressing and taking tents down we all sat down to a breakfast of cereal followed by eggy bread, sausages, baked beans and potato wedges and finished off with bread and jam.

We then split into 5 groups and made masks, puppets, iced biscuits, did a long mural of the camp and painted ceramic sea creatures.

After drinks and biscuits we were off to the woods for a scavenger hunt organised by White Rabbit and then it was time for the Beavers to get all their belongings together and go home.  The Cubs stayed for lunch of sandwiches, crisps, cakes, biscuits and fruit. 

They then watched a video and it was soon time for them to go home.

A very enjoyable time was had by all!
